2003 Spring Play

The Circle of Life

Written and Directed by Nancy Monson

This play is the culmination of a year of study about the Earth, its cycles, and the seasons that make up the foundation for the sustenance and nourishment of all life.

This play began in the spring, with a little girl, Rose, working in the garden with her parents. Later on, her parents tell her that they will have to move in the fall. She does not want to leave, and runs crying, throwing herself on the ground in the garden, until she falls asleep.

She is then visited by the Keepers of the Earth, who take her on a journey to the Land of Never Ending Circles. There she meets the Keepers of the Rocks, Plants, Air and Water.

She sees and hears how all the cycles of nature are connected.

She is then taken back to her garden for her last lesson: that she is connected to all of these cycles and that they are always inside of her as well as outside of her. She need never be alone.

2003 Winter Play

Heggedy Peg

For our winter play the children were listening to Nancy read the story of Heckedy Peg and before she knew it they were acting it out and begging to perform it. She wrote music to accompany the story and Kim, the movement teacher, choreographed some of the scenes. It is the story of a witch who steals a mother’s seven children and turns them into food for her dinner. To get them back, the mother has to guess which food is which child.200
